Trail Rider Incentive Program (T.R.I.P.) is designed for those
who would rather spend a day on the trails than anywhere else.
T.R.I.P. is for the weekend trail rider as well as those who
spend several days a week exploring America’s trails.
T.R.I.P. is open
to all NWHA members riding any gaited horse or any gaited
horse owned by a NWHA member. NWHA registered horses’ trail
hours are viewable on the NWHA website under the Tracking
Registry.
Awards for
T.R.I.P are based on time spent in the saddle. Trail hours are
counted in 15 minute increments with a minimum of 30 minutes
per ride. Any NWHA affiliated ride or ACTHA Competitive Trail
Challenge will count for double hours.
In 2009, NWHA
partnered with the American Competitive Trail Horse
Association in its’ goal to provide relaxed, family friendly,
enjoyable riding events to foster the abilities of the trail
horse while at the same time providing for horses in need.
More information on ACTHA can be found at
www.actha.us.
T.R.I.P. awards
are presented at designated hourly levels. The annual high
hour rider is presented with the Iron Buns Award, a customized
silver belt buckle designed for the T.R.I.P. program. The high
hour horse and high hour youth ride also receive an annual
award. Annual awards are presented at the NWHA Membership
Meeting. Logs must be submitted by October 1 each year to be
eligible for the year end awards.
Recognizing
that we share a love of naturally smooth-gaited horses NWHA is
proud to announce a collaboration with the American Field
Trial Association. The TRIP will award a special distance
prize to the TRIP member accumulating the highest number of
hours at American Field Trial events. This will be a special
award at the NWHA annual meeting. TRIP members need only note
in their trail logs which rides are field trials in order to
be eligible. |
