YOUTH LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE CANCELLATION

The Youth Committee would like to express our regret in informing you that we have had to cancel the 2010 Youth Leadership Conference.  We understand that many youth enjoy this opportunity every year to socialize and grow in their leadership skills, but due to several unfortunate scheduling and time conflicts we feel that we cannot put on a successful conference that would fit the high standard that we have set for such an event.  Instead of having a sub-standard opportunity for leadership development, we have decided to host fall leadership retreats this year.  Information and registration for these events will be available on the youth page soon (http://www.nwha.com/youth.html).  We appreciate your understanding in our desire to hold only the highest quality and most advantageous events for our youth in representation of the NWHA.

Interested in becoming a leader in NWHA Youth?  Want to make a difference in your youth horse community?  Have a desire to help plan and carry out youth events for the NWHA across the country?  Then the new Youth Board of Directors is for you! 

DEADLINE: 8/14/10

This year the NWHA is forming a Youth Board to assist with planning and coordinating youth events throughout the year.  Check out the application for more information! 

NWHA Youth/4-H Horse Project Achievement Award.

DEADLINE: 9/1/10

This program is open to any NWHA youth member who participates in their state's 4-H horse program and uses a gaited horse or mule as their project animal in 2010. Each participant must exhibit that horse or mule in their state's 4-H District or State Championship Horse Show in 2010 and complete and return the application below. All participants and their horses will be recognized at the NWHA Championship show where they will be presented with a personalized award.  Email shady_oaks@hotmail.com with any questions, with “NWHA 4-H Award” in the subject line.

Neil Clark Youth Memorial Scholarship Award   

DEADLINE: 8/14/10

Offered to two different age groups of current NWHA Youth members; 12 and under and 13-17 as of January 1st, 2010.  One youth from each age group will get the chance to earn a $250.00 cash scholarship.  Please check out the Oct/Nov 2006 issue of The National News for a wonderful article on Mr. Clark.  Click here for more information.

MoonWalker Memorial Veterinarian Scholarship  Applicant must be a current NWHA member who is enrolled in or currently in a pre-vet or vet school program.

Applicant must submit an essay (worth 50 points), current high school and college transcript (worth 20 points), personal reference letter from teacher (worth 20 points), and personal reference letter from a person of applicants choosing (worth 10 points).
