Promoting the sound and natural walking horse

Affiliating your show with NWHA assures the fairest judges, the top DQP’s and assurance of the finest sound and natural walking horses on a fair and level playing field.  This is defining our breed standard and what we want to develop for a better tomorrow.

Affiliate Your Show: Print the application, complete and mail to NWHA with your fee. Or call, write, or email us today about affiliating your show, sale, or event with the National Walking Horse Association.  You can also choose to pay your affiliation fee in the NWHA SHOP.  The sooner you affiliate, the sooner we can start advertising your show.  Prior to posting on the NWHA calendar, the following must be received at the NWHA office:  Completed application, draft show bill, and payment of affiliation fee.

Members-Only Trophy: If your NWHA-affiliated show adds a “NWHA-Members-Only” class, an NWHA serving tray trophy can be purchased for $15.00 for the class. To receive this trophy, complete the form and mail it with a copy of your show schedule to the NWHA office, Attn: Awards Program. We must receive this request 30 days prior to your show to allow time for shipping.

Zero tolerance for sore horses: The NWHA is committed to stopping the abuse of Walking Horses. You, as show manager, can rest assured that the NWHA is your best ally for a good, clean show.

Free publicity: The National Walking Horse Association provides multiple advertising platforms including the NWHA calendar and Facebook page events

Limited liability: for horse show management for enforcement of the HPA. When a show sponsor affiliates with the NWHA, we accept responsibility for enforcement of the Horse Protection Act and other animal cruelty laws. We take our job seriously, so you can go on to the work of putting on a successful horse event.

Sanction vs Affiliation:

  • Affliliation:  A show affiliation is required for any event that must have a Designated Qualified Person (DQP) present and checking horses as defined by the NWHA Rules and Regulations.
  • Sanction:  An event sanction is required when that event  is not required to have a Declared Qualified Person (DQP) present and checking horses as defined by the NWHA Rules and regulations.  These events could be dressage shows, gymkhana-only events, or any other non-rail type of event.

All exhibitors (excluding Youth Exhibitors) will be required to have a current NWHA Membership or purchase a Temporary Show Card.  NWHA members and exhibitors at NWHA shows must designate their status as Youth, Amateur, or Professional (non-Amateur).  Non-member exhibitors may purchase a Temporary Show Card at the show/event or complete their purchase on-line at the NWHA Shop.  The Temporary Show Card covers a single NWHA event, excluding The National where membership is required.  The Temporary Show Card does not grant any NWHA member benefits.

Temporary Show Card:  $15.00 per event.

Membership is required for all exhibitors at The National Championship Show.

ATTENTION SHOW MANAGERS: Send all Show Results to the NWHA High Point Committee Chairperson and the NWHA Office
